Photography Gear & Equipment

Here’s a list of some of the photo equipment I love and use all the time (in no particular order). Most of these links are for Amazon, but I suggest looking at B&H Photo or Adorama as well for photo things!

Let’s dive right into it–

Godox FV150 Light

I ended up buying a second one of these after purchasing the first one. I love that you can use it as a strobe or continuous light.

Godox AD300 Pro (battery powered strobe light)

This little guy is a beast. This light is helpful to bring to on-location shoots because it’s super portable and battery powered so you don’t have to worry about outlets and cords.

Color Card

Stick this in front of your product before shooting to help you color correct in post production.

Barndoors with honeycomb grid (bowens mount)

For the longest time I used two black foam core boards to direct light (which still works super well!) but it’s nice to have these barn doors for better control. This is a bowens mount, which is pretty common. If you don’t have lights with a bowens mount, there are plenty of options out there.

Plexiglass acrylic sheets

This is great if you want a slight reflection, you can just put it on top of your background or if you’re working with texture swatches or products that will ruin your backdrop.

3-in-1 modifier cards (reflector/white card/black card)

I love that these can stand on their own and have all three options (black/white/shiny)

To make fake ice

This stuff has been a game changer for me. I put this mixture in silicone ice cube molds and I’ve used the same fake ice cubes over and over again. Make sure you rinse them off and allow them to dry completely before storing them.

Tether Cord

This one is pretty self explanatory! Just make sure it’s compatible with your specific camera body.

Solid state hard drive

I switched to SSD because they are way more dependable than regular hard drives. They don’t have any moving parts inside so there is less that can go wrong. I love how small and portable this one is.

64GB SD card

You can never have enough of these! I always get a least one new pack every black Friday 😅

Palette Knife Set

If you work with product textures or food, these are handy to have around.

Wireless transmitters

These are the transmitters I use, I found myself getting more Godox items so I decided to go with these, but they don’t have to be this brand. It makes nice to adjust light settings right from the transmitter on your camera.

Helping Hands tool (for holding props)

I bought one with a yellow base and wouldn’t recommend it, so i’m linking the black based one. The yellow can reflect color cast into your scene and nobody wants to deal with that.

Kitchen tweezers

Another great tool to have around–the long tweezers are key.

Club Backdrops

My go-to shop for vinyl backdrops!

Always keep an eye out for sale times (holidays, black Friday, etc.) And remember, you can have all the fancy photo gear and equipment but learning the fundamentals of photography is key!
